Custom Storage Classes

Overview

If your Amazon S3 compatible storage provider uses its own storage class codes, you can add them to CS Browser's lists or replace the default list with the classes supported by that provider. These settings belong to the individual storage account and can also be configured through the command-line interface.

Use the exact codes specified by your provider. The HOT and WARM codes shown below are examples; their availability and meaning depend on the storage service.

Configuring this list changes the choices available in CS Browser. It does not create storage classes on the server or change the storage class of existing files.

Configure custom storage classes

  1. Choose Accounts, Manage accounts.

Accounts menu with Manage accounts selected
    Open the Storage Accounts window.
  2. Select an Amazon S3 Compatible Storage account and click Edit. In the Edit Account dialog, click the advanced settings link at the bottom left. You can also configure these settings while adding a new account.

  3. The Advanced Amazon S3 Compatible Storage Settings window opens. On the General tab, click the pencil button next to Storage classes. You can also click the summary field itself.

Click Configure storage classes to open the editor.
  4. The Storage Classes dialog opens. To keep the default choices and add your provider's classes, select Add to default storage classes and enter one code per line.

    • Mode - chooses whether to use, extend, or replace the default list.
    • Storage class codes - one code per line, with the spelling and letter case required by your provider.

Codes must use printable ASCII characters without spaces. Blank lines and surrounding whitespace are ignored, and duplicate entries are removed.

  5. Click OK, then Close in advanced settings. Click Save changes in Edit Account and again in Storage Accounts. For a new account, finish with Add new account instead.

Storage class modes

Use default storage classes
