How to Create Folders in an Amazon S3 Bucket

Amazon S3 stores objects in buckets. To start working with Amazon S3, create at least one bucket.

Amazon S3 does not have physical folders. CS Browser presents common object-key prefixes as virtual folders, making it easier to organize and browse your files.

Amazon S3 returns up to 1,000 entries per LIST request. Larger listings are loaded page by page, so a folder containing thousands of objects may take longer to display.

We recommend organizing objects into a hierarchical folder structure instead of placing everything at the bucket root or in a single folder.

To create a new folder:

1. Start CS Browser and select the bucket you want to work with.

2. Open the Files menu and choose Create New Folder..

   

3. The Create New Folder dialog will open. Enter a folder name, then click Create new folder.

   

You can also create nested folders to build a hierarchical structure.

You can now upload files to your new folders.
