Upload with Filters

Overview

Use Upload with Filters to choose local files by name, full local path, modification date and time, or size. Upload only CSV reports, recent backups, or files within a chosen size range. Selected folders are searched recursively, and matching files keep their folder structure.

The conditions apply to one upload operation. Your existing Uploading Filters also apply; a file must pass both sets of conditions. This dialog does not change those global rules or the display filter.

Choose files and folders to upload

  1. Open the destination bucket or folder. Hold Shift while opening the Files menu or right-clicking in the files list. Choose Upload files with Filters... for individual files or Upload folders with Filters... to search local folders and their subfolders.

Hold Shift when opening the menu to show the filtered upload commands.
  2. Choose a criterion, an operation, and a value. For example, select Name, matches pattern, and enter *.csv to upload CSV files.

Upload with Filters dialog with Name matching *.csv
Name compares each local file name without its directories.
  3. Click Upload, then select the local files or folders. CS Browser queues matching files and shows progress on the Tasks tab, as with a regular upload. Cancel either dialog to leave the upload unstarted.

Folder names do not limit traversal: a folder that does not match a name condition is still searched. Only matching files are queued; empty folders do not create remote folder markers. If no files match, no file transfers are queued. Selecting individual files limits the operation to those files.

Filter conditions

Name and full local path

Name compares only the file name. For C:\Reports\2026\sales.csv, it compares sales.csv. Full path compares the complete local path, including the drive letter or network share. Use Windows path separators, as in C:\Reports\2026\*.csv or \\server\share\Reports\*.

Full path condition matching C:\Reports\2026\*.csv
Full path compares the local filesystem path before uploading.
  • matches pattern and does not match pattern compare the entire name or path. Use * for zero or more characters and ? for one character.
  • equals, does not equal, contains, does not contain, starts with, and ends with compare literal text.
  • Match case enables case-sensitive matching for that condition. By default, text comparisons ignore letter case.

Last modified

Compare the local file's last modification date and time using at, on or before, on or after, or between. The date and time are always shown. Both boundaries are inclusive, including the entire ending second. Use local time is enabled by default, matching Windows; clear it to enter UTC.

Local files modified between October 1, 2026 00:00:00 and October 31, 2026 23:59:59
Both endpoints of a modification range appear on one row.

Size

Compare the original local file size using equals, at least, at most, or between. Choose bytes, KiB, MiB, or GiB. One KiB is 1,024 bytes; one MiB is 1,024 KiB. Limits are inclusive and apply before upload compression or encryption.

Upload files at most 50 MiB in size
Select files by their size on the local disk.

Combine conditions and exclude matches

Click Add condition to combine criteria. Match all conditions requires every condition to match. For example, combine *.csv names with an October 2026 modification range.

Upload CSV files modified during October 2026 using Match all conditions
Match all narrows the selection using multiple criteria.

Match any condition accepts a file when at least one condition matches. Use it to include alternatives such as CSV or JSON files.

Match any condition for *.csv and *.json local file names
Match any includes files matching either name pattern.

Enable Exclude to invert the combined result. For example, a Name condition matching *.tmp with Exclude uploads files that do not match that pattern. For an individual negative condition, use does not match pattern or another negative text operation.

Exclude enabled for local files named *.tmp
Exclude applies after all/any conditions have been combined.

Reuse and reset filters

Open Recent to load a saved upload filter for review or editing. Upload filter history is separate from download and display filters. Edit opens its history file in your text editor; Clear inside Recent removes that history.

Click Clear on the dialog toolbar to reset the conditions and Exclude, then enter new conditions. The dialog remains open. Click Cancel to close without uploading. For an upload without these additional conditions, use the regular Upload files or Upload folders command.
