Download with Filters

Overview

Use Download with Filters to download only the files you need from your selection and its subfolders. Choose files by name, full path, last modification date and time, storage class, or size. For example, download only CSV reports, recent backups, or files smaller than a chosen limit.

The conditions apply to one download operation. They do not change the file list filter or the behavior of the regular Download command. You can also use CLI download filters in scripts, including date/time limits, name/path exclusions, case-sensitive matching, and a dry-run preview. The same filter arguments are available for CLI file listings.

Download selected files and folders with filters

  1. Open a bucket and select the files or folders to download. Hold Shift while opening the Files menu or right-clicking the selection. Click Download with Filters..., which appears directly below Download.

Files menu with Download with Filters selected below Download
Hold Shift when opening the menu to reveal Download with Filters.
  2. In the dialog, choose a criterion, an operation, and a value. For example, select Name, matches pattern, and enter *.csv to download CSV files.

Download with Filters dialog matching file names against *.csv
Name matches the file name in any selected folder or subfolder.

Use Add condition to combine criteria. The hints under each field explain the current criterion and operation.

  3. Click Download, then choose a local destination folder. CS Browser queues matching files and shows progress on the Tasks tab, as with a regular download.

Selected folders are searched recursively. Conditions match files, not folder names; a folder that does not match a name pattern is still searched. The download preserves the relative folder structure of matching files. Selecting only individual files limits the operation to those files.

Filter conditions

Name and full path

Name compares only the file name: for reports/2026/sales.csv, it compares sales.csv. Full path compares the entire object key from the bucket root, without the bucket name or a leading slash.

Full path condition matching reports/2026/*
Full path always starts at the bucket root, even when you select a nested folder.
  • matches pattern and does not match pattern compare the whole name or key. Use * for zero or more characters and ? for one character, for example *.csv or report-202?.pdf.
  • equals and does not equal compare the complete name or key with literal text.
  • contains and does not contain check for literal text anywhere in the value.
  • starts with and ends with compare the beginning or end with literal text.

Text comparisons ignore letter case unless you check Match case for that condition. Wildcards apply only to matches pattern and does not match pattern. Enter one pattern per condition; use Match any conditions for several alternatives.

Last modified

Choose Last modified to compare a date and time to the second. Use at, on or before, on or after, or between. Both range fields appear on one row. Enter UTC times, or check Use local time to use the times shown in the file list. Each boundary includes the entire selected second.

Last modified between October 1, 2026 00:00:00 and October 31, 2026 23:59:59 UTC
Download files modified during October 2026, using UTC.

Date and time conditions use fixed cutoffs, not a rolling age. Files without a reported modification date do not match time conditions.

Storage class

Choose Storage class, select equals or does not equal, and select a class. The available values include built-in classes, the account's configured custom classes, and classes reported for the selected entries.

Storage class condition equals STANDARD_IA
Select a storage class by its code.

Filtering by an archive storage class does not restore archived objects. If an object requires restoration, follow the restore procedure before downloading it.

Size

Choose Size and equals, at least, at most, or between. Enter the value or range and select bytes, KiB, MiB, or GiB. Limits are inclusive; 1 KiB is 1,024 bytes, and 1 MiB is 1,048,576 bytes.

Size condition at most 50 MiB
Download files whose reported object size is no greater than 50 MiB.

Combine conditions and exclude matches

Click Add condition to add another criterion. With two or more conditions, choose all or any in the Match list. Use Remove condition beside a condition to remove it.

Match all conditions requires every condition to match. This example downloads CSV files modified during October 2026:

Match all conditions combining *.csv and an October modification date range
Both the name pattern and the modification date must match.

Match any conditions requires at least one condition to match. For example, add two name patterns to download CSV or JSON files:

Match any conditions for *.csv and *.json file names
Either name pattern is enough to include a file.

Check Exclude to download files that do not match the combined filter. For example, exclude *.tmp to skip temporary files. With several conditions, Exclude reverses the final all/any result.

Exclude checked for the *.tmp name pattern
Download all files in the selection except those matching *.tmp.

Reuse and reset filters

To reuse a previous choice, open Download with Filters..., click Recent, and select a filter. Review the conditions, click Download, and choose the destination. Download filter history is separate from display and bucket filter history.

Click Clear to reset the conditions and turn off Exclude, then enter new conditions. Click Cancel to close the dialog without starting a download. To download the entire selection, use the regular Download command; no filter reset is needed.
